Abstract: (1203 Views)
Aim and Background: The aim of the present study is to standardize the Fear of Happiness Scale and examine its relationship with hopelessness and frustration among Iranian high school students.
Methods and Materials: This study employed a developmental method with a correlational approach. The statistical population consisted of all upper secondary school students in Tehran Province during the 2024–2025 academic year (approximately 65,000 students). Using Cochran’s formula, the sample size was determined to be 415 participants. The research instruments included the Joshanloo Fear of Happiness Scale, the Beck Hopelessness Scale, the Frustration Discomfort Scale, the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, and the Subjective Vitality Scale. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25, utilizing both descriptive and inferential statistics
Findings: A Cronbach's alpha of 0.883 indicated a desirable level of internal consistency. Factor analysis, with a KMO value of 0.872 and a significant Bartlett's test, confirmed the construct validity of the instrument. The score distribution was also reported to be normal. The research hypothesis suggesting a significant positive relationship between hopelessness and frustration was confirmed.
Conclusions: These findings may be useful for psychological interventions and academic counseling, particularly for students who simultaneously face psychological challenges such as hopelessness and frustration.
