Abstract
Aim and Background: Discovering factors associated with mental health of the elderly is an interesting subject in the psychology of aging. This study investigated the relationships of spiritual well-being, existential well-being, and hardiness with mental health in the elderly. Methods and Materials: This descriptive-correlational research was conducted on the elderly living in the nursing home of Ardabil (Iran). One hundred individuals were randomly selected. Data was collected using questionnaires about spiritual well-being, hardiness, and mental health. The collected data was analyzed with Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Findings: Spiritual well-being had significant negative associations with anxiety, depression, and social dysfunction. However, it had a positive significant relation with hardiness. Existential well-being had significant negative relations with somatization, anxiety, depression, and social dysfunction. Its relation with hardiness was positive and significant. Finally, hardiness had significant negative associations with anxiety and depression. Conclusions: Mental health of the elderly can be predicted by spiritual well-being, existential well-being, hardiness, and age. The results of this study imply the importance of spiritual well-being and hardiness in maintaining mental health of the elderly.

Abstract
Abstract Aim and Background: This study aims to predict self-care behavior based on the characteristics of Hardiness , hope and dysfunctional attitudes in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods and Materials: Study design was a descriptive correlation method. The target population was all patients with diabetes type 2 who referred to Isfahan Endocrine and Metabolism Centers. The sample consisted of 120 patients. The multi-stage cluster sampling was used for the sample selection . The instrument employed in this research was Self – care Scale, hardiness Questinnaire, Hope Scale and Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale . The Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis with stepwise method were used to analyze the data. Findings: Analysis of the data showed that the only interaction between hope and dysfunctional attitudes have been able to predict self-care (r=0.191,p<0.05). But separately there is no relationship between hardiness , hope, dysfunctional attitudes and self-care. Conclusions: Interaction of dysfunctional attitudes and hope are able to predict self-care behavior. Therefore, the program which modify dysfunctional attitude and enhance Life Expectancy seems to increase self-care behavior.

Aim and Background: Improving the quality of life and controlling blood glucose in patients with diabetes is one of the most important goals of interventions and health promotion programs in these patients. The purpose of this study was to develop a health model in type 2 diabetic patients based on psychological toughness, health literacy, self-efficacy and beliefs. Health is mediated by self-management behaviors and social support.
Methods and Materials: The research method is analytical and structural equations. The statistical population of this study includes all patients with type 2 diabetes referred to diabetes clinics in abadan in 1398. Random sampling method was used to select the sample. 254 patients with diabetes were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Research instruments psychological toughness questionnaire (Kobasa, 1984), health literacy questionnaire (Montazeri, 2014), tobert and glasgow self-management behaviors questionnaire (1994) and quality of life questionnaire (Bruges, 2004) and wax social support questionnaire, 1986), health beliefs questionnaire (Kartal, 2006) and the self-efficacy questionnaire (Stanford, 2001).
Findings: Findings showed that health beliefs have a direct and significant effect on the health outcomes of patients with type 2 diabetes (P≤0.001) and self-efficacy has direct and indirect effects on health outcomes (mediated by self-management behaviors) (P≤0.001). Health literacy had no direct and significant effect on the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes (p≥0.001). Psychological hardiness has direct and indirect effects on health outcomes (mediated by self-management behaviors) (P≤0.001) and the effect of social support on health outcomes was not significant (P≥0.001).
Conclusions: Considering the role of health beliefs and self-efficacy and persistence on health outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes, it is recommended to use these variables in quality of life and self-care programs of this group of these patients.
