Abstract

Aim and Background: Many women begin their marital life with high intimate relationships, but with time, these intimate relationships are becoming less and more difficult, and it is just when then couple burnout has begun. The purpose of this study was to comparison of the effectiveness of mindfulness education and Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) on couple intimacy, commitment and happiness women with couple burnout. Methods and Materials: The semi-experimental study was performed as pretest-posttest with a control group. The population included all women with couple burnout who was referred to the charity of association Baghiyato Allah Al-Azam Khomeini City in 2018. From this population 36 people were selected by available sampling method and were randomly assigned to three group mindfulness (12 person), EFT (12 person) and control (12 person). Both experimental groups received eight 90 minute training sessions. The study instrument was Couple Intimacy Questionnaire (CIQ), Couple Commitment Questionnaire (CCQ), Marital Happiness Scale (MHS) and Couple Burnout Measure (CBM). Data was analyzed by SPSS software using Multivariate Covariance Analysis (MANCOVA) and One way Covariance Analysis (ANCOVA). Findings: The finding showed that a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in intimacy (p=.001, F=37.94), commitment (p=.001, F=30.77) and couple happiness (p=.001, F=58.29) in the post- test phase. Also there was no significant difference between the effectiveness of mindfulness and EFT on intimacy, commitment and intimacy happiness (p>.05). Conclusions: According to the finding of research it can be concluded that the mindfulness and EFT can increase the level of intimacy, commitment and couple happiness. Therefore, it is recommended that counselors and therapists use these two approaches as an effective treatment for enhancing intimacy, commitment and couple happiness.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Marital relationship is one of the most important areas of life of individuals whose various factors play a role in it. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of couple counseling on marital conflicts and marital intimacy couples with different personality traits referred to counseling centers in Yazd. Methods and Materials: This is a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest design with control group. In order to conduct research, all couples with different personality traits referring to counseling centers in Yazd were randomly selected into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was subjected to twin counseling based on solving the problem of personality differences for 12 sessions. Two pre-test and post-test questionnaires were used for Marital Conflicts Questionnaire (MCQ) and Marital Intimacy Questionnaire (MIC). Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance and using SPSS software. Findings: The results showed that marital counseling was effective on marital intimacy and conflicts on subjects. Conclusions: In order to reduce marital conflicts and increase marital intimacy in couples with different personality traits can use counseling based on solving the problem of personality differences and suggest it to marriage counselors and professionals.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Intimacy is a key and important property of a marital relationship and a distinguished attribute of a successful marriage. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of the couple relationship enrichment by Olson’s method on the increase in the marital intimacy of couples.

Methods and Materials: The present study was methodologically quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with a 45-day follow-up. The statistical population was 30 couples from Farsan city and its suburb in 2018. The sample of the present study comprised 20 couples voluntarily selected from the couples in Farsan city and its suburb according to a call on educational-counseling courses. The experimental group received the couple relationship enrichment training by Olson’s method for 7 sessions. The control group was also in the waiting list. To collect data, we employed Bagharouzi’s Marital Intimacy Questionnaire. To analyze the data, we used a mixed-ANOVA test.

Findings: The results revealed that the couple relationship enrichment by Olson’s method was effective in increasing the marital intimacy of couples in Farsan city (p<0.001). Furthermore, this effect was also stable in the follow-up phase after 45 days (p<0.001).

Conclusions: Training communicational skills in the couple relationship enrichment approach by Olson’s method could be effective in enhancing the marital intimacy of couples in Farsan city. Theoretical and applied considerations have been posed in the conclusion part.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Relationships and relationships between couples are one of the most important aspects of each person's life. Young couples need to receive the necessary training in this field. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of pre-marriage counseling with the Relationship Attachment Model (RAM) on marital intimacy needs of married applicants in Urmia.

Methods and Materials: This study was a quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest and follow up design and control group. The community consisted of married couples seeking referral to counseling services in Urmia in 2019. Voluntary sampling method was used to select 60 individuals who had a definite decision to marry and were randomly divided into two groups, Including RAM training group (n = 30) and control group (n = 30). The instrument used was the Marital Intimacy Needs Questionnaire (MINQ). Data were analyzed by SPSS software using repeated measures analysis of variance.

Findings: There is a significant difference between the amount of intimacy at pre-test, post-test and follow-up. The main effect of interactive and intergroup effect on the research variables was significant, indicating the effectiveness of the RAM training (P<0.05).

Conclusions: According to the results, it can be concluded that pre-marriage counseling model of RAM is effective on marital intimacy needs in Urmia city marriage applicants and has improved marital intimacy in marriage applicants. Accordingly, it is recommended that pre-marriage counseling be provided with the RAM linkage model for young married couples.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Intimacy and marital compatibility between couples maintain and strengthen the family foundation. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a methodology based on cognitive bias correction and to determine the effectiveness of its training on bias, intimacy and adaptation of couples with marital incompatibility.
Methods and Materials: The research method was quasi-experimental and the design of the pretest, posttest research was with the control group. The statistical population of the study was couples with marital problems who referred to counseling centers in Arak in 1398. The sample consisted of 16 couples (32 people) with marital incompatibility and cognitive bias who were selected by available methods. Data were collected using the Lock-Wallace (1959) Compatibility Questionnaire, Walker-Thompson (1983) Marital Intimacy Questionnaire, and the Point-of-Exploration Assignment Software (2015). Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data and examine the relationships between variables.  
Findings: The results showed that the treatment method based on the correction of cognitive bias has an acceptable content validity. Also, the results of the educational intervention showed that the training of the method significantly reduces the cognitive bias of the couple and increases the intimacy and adaptation of the couple (P≤0.001).
Conclusions: It seems that training in the treatment method based on cognitive bias correction can be considered as a valid and effective program to reduce cognitive bias and increase intimacy and compatibility of incompatible couples.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Marital intimacy in divorcing couples is associated with shortcomings, based on this, this research aimed to compare the effectiveness of schema couple therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on marital intimacy in Couples Exposed to divorce.
Methods and Materials: The method of the current research was quantitative and a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, and post-test design and follow-up period. The statistical population of the research consisted of all the women facing divorce who refer to Avai counseling and psychology center in Paveh city in the year 1400, of which 45 people were selected by convenience sampling method and randomly in the group The schema couple therapy experiment, the mindfulness-based cognitive therapy experiment group, and the control group was replaced. Thomson and Volker's Marital Intimacy Questionnaire was used in data collection. Also, variance analysis with repeated measures has been used to analyze the data.
Findings: The results of data analysis showed that schema couple therapy had a significant effect on increasing marital intimacy (p<0.05), on the other hand, cognitive behavioral therapy based on mindfulness also improved marital intimacy. It has been significantly fruitful (p<0.05), also, no significant difference was observed between the two groups of schema couple therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in the variable of marital intimacy.
Conclusions: The results of the present study showed that schema couple therapy and cognitive therapy based on mindfulness were effective in increasing the intimacy of women facing divorce. These two treatment approaches have the same result in improving marital intimacy in women facing divorce.

Abstract

Aim and Background: The educational intervention program for spouses refers to another intervention that prevents people and their relationships from the common vices of married life by reducing the number of destructive relationships and strengthening constructive behaviors. Educational interventions are usually aimed at protecting spouses from risk factors, such as destructive relationship patterns and irrational beliefs, and building supportive relationship factors, such as positive attitudes and marital intimacy.
Methods and Materials: In this research, the researcher has used a quantitative method. For this purpose, 20 couples were selected to implement the protocol. The research method at this stage will be a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The selected subjects in both experimental and control groups were measured by pre-test. The required data collection tool was through a questionnaire and the results were analyzed by the variance of repeated measurements. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used to test the normality of the distribution of scores related to several studies, and pairwise comparisons were also tested using the Bonferroni test.
Findings: The researcher investigated her research in the form of three hypotheses, and the results showed that the educational package has a positive and significant effect on emotional intimacy, marital compatibility, and reducing marital conflicts and the results were smaller than 0.005.
Conclusions: The hypotheses of the research were confirmed and it can be said that the educational package of sustainable life based on the lived experience of couples with experience of divorce is effective on emotional intimacy and this effect has been lasting. Also, the results showed that the training package increased marital compatibility in the experimental group compared to the control group and also decreased marital conflicts.

Abstract

Aim and Background: Comparing different approaches in psychology for greater effectiveness is one of the most interesting issues among researchers. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the impact of relationship enrichment program based on cognitive behavioral therapy and emotional couple therapy on intimacy and compatibility in couples involved in domestic violence.
Methods and Materials: The experimental research method is a multi-group pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of women involved in domestic violence between the ages of 20 and 40 was in the 7th district of Tehran in 1401. Sampling method available and 60 people were selected as a sample and randomly divided into two groups of 20 people for testing and 20 people for control. For the experimental group, relationship enrichment intervention training based on cognitive behavioral therapy and emotion-oriented therapy training was held, and the control group had their normal daily schedule. The data were collected using a marital compatibility and intimacy questionnaire. The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of covariance using SPSS.
Findings: The results of the present study showed that cognitive behavioral therapy and emotional therapy have a significant effect on marital intimacy and adjustment in couples involved in domestic violence (p<0.05), but the results for the difference in the effect of the method Treatment was not significant.
Conclusions: it can be concluded that enriching relationships based on cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional therapy on marital intimacy and compatibility in couples is effective.
