Abstract

Aim and Backgruond: Blood Pressure &nbsp;, one of the most important public health problem in the world is the main risk factors for heart disease .Depression is the common comorbod psychiatric disorder among patient with medicin&nbsp; conditions .This aim was to &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;compared &nbsp;&nbsp;depression between &nbsp;&nbsp;patients with hypertension and &nbsp;normal&nbsp; people . Methods and Materials: In the case-control ,143 consecative&nbsp; patients with hypertension were&nbsp; selected regarding&nbsp; inclusing&nbsp; and exclusing&nbsp; criteria and they were&nbsp; matched with&nbsp; a normal group&nbsp; selected&nbsp; from &nbsp;their family .Data was collected demographic questionnaire and Beck Depression Scale&nbsp; and&nbsp; then&nbsp; data&nbsp; was analyised &nbsp;by Mann-Whitney test and chi-Square. &nbsp; Results: 4/59% of patients had hypertension and 5/33% non-suffering people were suffering from mild to severe degrees of depression. Findings chi-Square &nbsp;analysis was significant difference &nbsp;&nbsp;P<0/001) between the two groups indicated. Mann-Whitney test showed significant differences in frequency of depression at three levels: mild, moderate and severe there. P<0/001) &nbsp;. Between disease duration and severity of hypertension in patients with depression had a direct significant relationship (p <0/001). &nbsp; Conclusion: Depressive symptoms in patients with higher blood pressure of population is suffering. And the results seem to psychiatric counseling for depression screening in patients with hypertension should be considered more seriously.
