مواد و روش‌ها: نمونه‌های این مطالعه، 120 بیمار مبتلا به سرطان روده بزرگ در مراحل 2 و 3 بودند که از طریق نمونه‌گیری در ‏دسترس انتخاب شدند.‏ ابزارهای مورد استفاده جهت جمع‌آوری داده‌ها شامل مقیاس ‏معنا در زندگی ‎(Meaning in Life Scale یا MiLS)‏‎‏‎، مقياس سلامت ‏معنوي Paloutzian و Ellison (Spiritual Well-Being Scale یا SWBS)، ‏مقياس‎‎تاب‌آوری Connor-Davidson (Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale یا CD-RISC) و پرسش‌نامه‏ 25-Symptom Checklist (25-SCL‎‏) بود.
