Aim and Background: Marriage is one of the most significant events that can lead to the growth and flourishing of couples, reflecting their conflict resolution styles. However, these styles are influenced by various factors that require further investigation. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between conflict resolution styles and schema mindsets, with the mediating role of loneliness, interpersonal sensitivity, and repressed anger in single-mother women.
Methods and Materials: The present study was descriptive and correlational in nature. The statistical population included all single-mother women in Tehran during the second half of the year 2024. Using a convenience sampling method, 359 participants were selected and completed the following questionnaires: Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Resolution Styles (1974), Boyce and Parker's Interpersonal Sensitivity (1989), Moghimi et al.'s Loneliness Scale (2023), Lobbestael et al.'s Schema Mindsets (2010), and Spielberger's Anger Scale (1999). Descriptive and correlational indices were calculated using SPSS27, and structural equation modeling was performed using AMOS26.
Findings: Based on the results in the research model table, all hypothesized direct pathways, except for the pathway between schema mindsets and loneliness with conflict resolution styles, show a significant and negative direct effect (P<0.05). Additionally, the mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity, loneliness, and repressed anger in the relationship between conflict resolution styles and schema mindsets were significant at the level of P= 0.01.
Conclusions: The results indicate that schema mindsets can predict conflict resolution styles in single-mother women based on interpersonal sensitivity, loneliness, and repressed anger.
